Inspiring Story: Treat

Business Name: Treat

Inspired by her grandmother’s belief in complementary therapy, Rebecca Geanty has established a new clinic called Treat, which offers affordable complementary health care to suit the needs of her clients.

Treat is based in Capitol House on Norwich’s Heigham Street.  At the heart of the centre is a multi-bed acupuncture clinic where Rebecca and her team can treat up to six people in the same space at the same time.  This makes acupuncture more affordable for those who require regular treatment at only £24 per session.

We spoke to Rebecca about her Treat journey.

What is your background and the inspiration behind your business?

I have previous restaurant management experience, but I have been interested in complementary therapy from a young age.  My 95 year-old grandmother still has regular acupuncture, and I have also benefited hugely from the treatment.  It has been a dream to have my own clinic since I qualified.  I wanted to provide a homely, positive environment for my patients, the people of Norwich and practitioners, and to build a community which empowers people to help themselves.

“I welcomed the business support and advice that I received from Nwes, through the Start & Grow programme, in order to make Treat a reality.”

What does Treat offer?

Treat is based in Capitol House on Norwich’s Heigham Street.  It is a complementary health care clinic providing services to help fertility, pregnancy, back pain, sciatica, IBS, stress relief and much more.

Treat launched in April 2016, expanding from offering solely acupuncture to a whole range of complementary therapies, including physiotherapy, Pilates, hypnotherapy, counselling, and natural beauty treatment.

What makes your business unique?

At the heart of the centre is a multi-bed acupuncture clinic where myself and my team can treat up to six people in the same space at the same time at an affordable price. The clinic specialises in fertility and pregnancy but we also see a wide range of other ailments such as bad backs, stress relief etc.  We are also marketing our clinic to suit the needs of the client. If they have a complaint, like stress for example, they can easily know what will help them from our website or by talking to one of our health practitioners, rather than the client trying to work it out by themselves.

How has Nwes supported you and your business?

I welcomed the business support and advice that I received from Nwes, through the Start & Grow programme, in order to make Treat a reality, particularly when it came to financial planning and understanding issues relating to employment law.

To those who are starting a new business, I would advise seeking help and advice from professionals in the areas that you are not skilled in.  I have found the skills I am good at, such as marketing, but I really needed the help with contracts of employment and legal matters.

Where do you see yourself in two years time?

I aim to have the clinic working to nearly full capacity with a full team of practitioners within two years.

What advice do you have for others?

To succeed you must be motivated in what you do. Look at problems as challenges, and follow your dream – even if others tell you otherwise.
