In its short time in business, Plush Clean carpet cleaners has already gained a good reputation in the area in and around Leiston, Suffolk.  With the support of Nwes and the Leiston Enterprise Centre, business owner, Chris Richmond hasn’t looked back.

We spoke to Chris about Plush Clean and his virtual office through Leiston Enterprise Centre.

Tell us more about Plush Clean.

We launched in 2016.  We focus on end of tenancy cleaning, but also offer specialist carpet and upholstery cleaning services.  With a reach extending as far as Lowestoft to the north, and Ipswich to the South, Plush Clean is unique locally, as it is the only cleaning company which is a member of the National Carpet Cleaners Association.  Indeed it was due to this membership that we gained our very first client, as it offered reassurance that an accredited association would provide a professional job with fair pricing.

How did you feel when you gained your first customer?

It was great turning up in our new van and carrying out a pre-clean survey for our first customer.  After the job was completed, the client expressed how happy she was with the results.  She said she would recommend our services to her friends and would certainly use us again.

One of the best feelings was with this first job.  Now, each time we get a new job it makes us more confident that we have done the right thing by starting up this new business.  The boost this gave us made all the early challenge of setting up a business worthwhile.

Did you face any obstacles while setting up the business?

We overcame many obstacles and had found the answers to lots of questions during the start-up journey, including what we should call the business, how we would go about website design, and how we could get the name out there and reach potential clients.
