With 17 years’ experience in the flooring industry, Peterborough business owner En Shadat worked his way up from sales assistant to owner of his own flooring business. Nwes spoke to En to learn more about his start-up journey.
Could you tell us a little more about En-Rich Carpets and your USP?
My business, En-Rich Carpets, supplies and installs flooring for the public. We sell carpet, vinyl and luxury vinyl as well as laminate, wood flooring, rugs and artificial grass.
Customer service is of paramount importance in my business. I don’t advocate pushy sales tactics; customers can browse, feel relaxed and not pressured to buy. For any customers that are unable to come to the shop, they can book a time slot to suit them and I will provide a “home choose” service.
Why did you decide to start your business?
I have been in the flooring industry for 17 years and have worked for some big national companies.
I noticed that local flooring businesses were always looking to hire more staff, business was obviously booming, and I felt that I had so much to offer. It was at that point that I decided to jump in at the deep end and do this myself! I knew I would be able to implement all of the information and experience I had gained in previous positions for the benefit of my own business.
Why do you believe En-Rich Carpets can succeed?
I have made a lot of good friends in the industry and have forged good relationships with suppliers. I always manage to get the best deals for my customers, and my customer service is of the greatest importance to me. I always try to make my customers’ experience as seamless and stress free as possible.
