A local networking group specifically for start-up businesses has seen its popularity soar. Now in the second year, the organisers are reaching out to even more local entrepreneurs to boost their skills, contacts and confidence.
The Start Up and Grow network is collaborative venture between Chartered Accountants, Larking Gowen, law firm, Ashtons Legal, and enterprise agency, Nwes.
Meeting quarterly in the relaxed and informal surroundings of a Norwich city centre bar, Start Up and Grow is free to attend and has seen its numbers increase significantly over recent months. It regularly welcomes between 35 and 40 start-up business owners at each event.
A concept originally launched in 2016 by Larking Gowen Senior Accountant Glenn Matthews, the aim is to provide a platform for new business owners to find support, reduce isolation, while hearing experiences from fellow start-ups and other business owners.
“Networking with established businesses may be a daunting prospect for some new business owners.” Glenn explains.
“The success of the Start Up and Grow Network has been the support and contacts made between new entrepreneurs who find themselves in similar circumstances. The attendees find common ground in sharing their experiences about starting a business.”
Victoria Williamson, Deputy Area Manager for Nwes says.
“The Start Up and Grow Network events offer help and advice in a relaxed and informal environment. It’s not about selling products or services – it’s about offering insights and support. As a result, it has grown into a unique networking group where we have seen many business relationships form and develop.”
