Nwes celebrate 2017 ‘Best Companies’ awards

Enterprise agency, Nwes has cemented its reputation as a top employer with its highest placing to date in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For.

Featuring in the sixth annual Sunday Times Best Companies ranking in the not-for-profit sector, Nwes were placed 6th and were awarded the top status of three stars – the highest standard of workplace engagement for companies.

Nwes was presented with its award at a glittering ceremony on Wednesday 22 February in London. The organisation was also recognised for the special achievement of ‘Best Improver’ – its second award of the night, in recognition of its jump up the rankings.

Best Companies creates a measure of workplace engagement with the aim of inspiring a happier, healthier workforce to drive productivity.  First launched in 2001, partnering with The Sunday Times, the scheme has steadily developed.  Nwes has been regularly recognised and now adds two further awards to their impressive haul.  Its previous highest placing was 17th in 2015.

Encouraging enterprise and offering property services to support new and growing businesses, Nwes, recently merged with sister enterprise agencies the London Small Business Centre and NBV in Nottingham.  Since being established in 1982 in response to unemployment and regeneration in the Norfolk and Waveney area, Nwes has gone from strength to strength and now employs over 100 people at its thriving business centres across East Anglia, London and the East Midlands.

Enjoying staff benefits, including company health plan, enhanced maternity and paternity policies and use of a villa in the South of France, Nwes employees were asked to complete a questionnaire about different aspects of their working life including personal growth and wellbeing, training and development, and engagement with the aims and objectives of the organisation.

“Having previously been awarded two stars and placed as the 36th best not-for-profit organisation to work for in 2016, we are delighted that Nwes has been recognised as the Best Improver, having jumped 30 places to sixth position in 2017.”
