When Lukasz was made redundant, he and his wife, Jolanta, faced the challenge head on. They embraced their passion for food, and set up a business to support themselves and create a legacy for their son.
Autentico Gusto is Ipswich’s newest Italian takeaway restaurant. With several years’ experience in the restaurant industry, the couple’s focus is to satisfy the customer’s demand for a good quality pizza & pasta that is delivered fast and hot – with a smile.
The business idea has been in the planning stages for some time, with doors opening to the public in November 2015. Jolanta has long harboured a passion for cooking and writes a food blog, which she started in Poland. Little did the couple know this love would spark the idea for their business.
The restaurant offers fresh products and a welcoming environment for a small number of in-house diners – alongside this, the business’s delivery service has proved very successful and an avenue for growing the customer base.
Lukasz feels the support received from Nwes and business advisor Lou Cessford has been critical in their launch: “The help received to develop a robust business plan and financial forecast as well as the continual guidance on refining areas of the plan such as market research and marketing activities was essential to assist us in acquiring the finance necessary to open the business. After opening, the ongoing support is also very necessary as we continue to require help with areas such as employment contracts and processes and procedures to strengthen and streamline our business. Our marketing activities are key going forward and we hope to make improvements to our website and increase our online presence further in the coming months.”
Now employing two additional chefs, customers can find the restaurant on numerous online platforms including Just Eat and Hungry House.
“Our ethos is very much about providing hot and tasty food, using good quality ingredients. We have created a place for people to eat good food that puts a smile on their faces, either delivered home or eating in. We invite anyone wanting to try something different to what is normally being served in takeaway restaurants so far.
“Our aim is to be the first food destination of choice for those in our neighbourhood and community supplying superior products that will promote customer loyalty and repeat business. The customer feedback we are getting is tremendous and makes us feel very proud of our achievements in such a short space of time.”
