Cyber Crime – the invisible threat

Not so long ago, as long as your company had a ‘Good Practice Code’ and you locked the office at night, you could feel safe about the security of your business. Now the threat has changed. Cyber criminals are watching your business 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world, and probing your organisation’s networks.

One of the the biggest risks to your business is a cyber attack. If you walked in on a Monday morning and you had no access to client or staff details, could you survive?

Whilst high profile cyber-crimes such as Yahoo and Talk Talk are headline grabbing, the reality is that your employees are your weakest link and therefore everyone is under threat irrespective of your company’s size and many of you reading this will have suffered ransomware or e-mail phishing attacks.

Caroline Garrow, Associate Director from SEIB and self-proclaimed geek will explain how the criminals commit these crimes and what you can do to protect yourselves. Caroline has been in the insurance industry for over 20 years, the majority of her career has been in claims where she has seen businesses hit with significant losses which were not insured or could have been avoided had the correct procedures been in place. Caroline has been presenting on the subject of cyber crime and the potential financial exposure to business in order to raise awareness within the business community that they may not be insured.
