Free short-term offices for new businesses

Wednesday, 21 April 2010

From May 1st, business support organisation NWES will be piloting a new scheme that offers workspace units to new businesses on a rent free, short-term basis, thanks to support from Suffolk County Council, East of England Development Agency and Enterprise Lowestoft.

The scheme will allow new companies to test trade for three months in order to see if their business idea is viable. Of the four units available, there will be three offices and one workshop all fully furnished and equipped with PC’s and phones to allow for instant trading.

The four workspaces are located in three Suffolk based enterprise centres managed by NWES. They include one office unit at Riverside Business Centre in Lowestoft; one office unit at Suffolk Enterprise Centre in Ipswich, and one office unit and one workshop at Leiston Enterprise Centre in Leiston.

Matthew Holden, Senior Projects Coordinator for NWES said: “NWES is delighted to be able to offer these workspaces to individuals with a business idea who want to test the water before taking the leap into becoming self-employed. This short term usage should allow the companies to become established and confident enough to then take on their own unit”.

As well as receiving free workspace, the companies taking part will also have access to the full range of enterprise support that NWES provides, including 1-2-1 business advice, access to a wide range of business training, and guidance in financing a business.

To qualify, the business must be new and not yet trading, or, if the business has begun trading, it must not be operating from an existing workspace.

For more information or to apply for a business unit, please contact Matthew Holden on 01473 432600 or email matthew.holden@nwes.org.uk.
